TESTIMONIALS
"We stayed at Le Bourg in La Roque Gageac in July 2020. We absolutely loved it and would recommend it to anyone wishing to stay in the beautiful Dordogne. For a start, you are staying in a medieval house that has been lovingly restored, in one of the most beautiful and iconic villages of the Dordogne, with an exceptional view of the river. Whilst you feel you are staying in a truly historic building, it has all the commodities you would expect from a modern house, good internet connection, everything you need to plug every version of every mobile device you can possibly bring with you, wonderful bedrooms and modern bathrooms, a kitchen that has nothing missing and a view from the terrace to die for. Kitty was a wonderful host, always responding without delay, leaving instructions and information that are well beyond what you would normally expect. The house was super clean when we arrived, beds are also very comfortable, all photos and information are accurate, except that it's even better once you're there. The terrace is where you are likely to spend a lot of time in summer; what a great area, with stunning views of the river on one side and the cliff on the other. And you have an amazing shop selling local delicacies and a huge range of wines 20 yards away, run by the wonderful Helen. All in all it's 5 stars for us! We highly recommend Kitty's home and will definitely be back. An absolute gem!" - Benjamin L.
"This was our second trip to La Roque Gageac, and I am very sure there will be a third. The house is thoroughly modernized with all the old-world charm intact. Conveniently located in a tranquil setting, it seems that everything we wanted to see and do was within a reasonable, scenic distance. Kitty and Dave created a list of 'must see' attractions that offers suggestions for visitors with varied interests. The landscapes are breathtakingly spectacular at every turn, and the local history is fascinating! There is so much to see and do, I don't know where to begin, but I will say that the home itself is so perfectly situated in the village, there is no pressure to leave...we completely relaxed during our week there, never felt the 'need' to go anywhere, and enjoyed every outing we did take. Dave and Kitty seem to be local celebrities..when the locals found out we were staying at 'Le Bourg' we were immediately received as 'friends'! On our first trip we arrived from Toulousse and the second trip was via Paris, both trips by car, I recommend Toulousse...it's a much more convenient starting point!" - Allan T.
"I spent a fabulous week here with my three young children while my husband worked in Lyon. The home was perfectly outfitted for a comfortable family stay, and had plenty of room to accommodate grandparents or a second family (next time!). My girls and I enjoyed a week of nature, culture, history, and adventure in the Dordogne area, and I had no trouble getting around and enjoying the area even as a solo parent. In 2.5 years of living and traveling in Europe as an expat family, Le Bourg and La Roque-Gageac top my list as a favorite family destination." - Mary P.
